Uruguay - Light snacks
After my severe warning, the consensus seemed to be that only food could settle a worried stomach. What I hadn’t realised was how much. The eating fest started straight off the bat, the first stop; hotdogs. Now I was told this would be a “light snack” before lunch and a “couple of hotdogs” would do me good after such a long journey. And yes, that is hotdogs plural, and no, I’m not a very large person with a very big appetite. Thank the lord I was wearing leggings, the stretch was definitely needed. Although small, these hotdogs were very snug in their blankets of bread, cheese, meat, then more cheese and tomato ketchup. They were as delicious as they sound deadly. Status after stop 1: moderately stuff sheep. On to the next stop.

When we arrived at the restaurant it was meat galore. Uruguay’s primary export is beef. This surprised me considering the amount that surrounded me. Everyone was eating beef, it looked like there was none left for anyone else! So my internal voice was whispering to me “Where them veggies at. Where them carbs at. Looks like we’re going hardcore protein, hardcore gains for two weeks.” My stomach and I were ready for the challenge. Status after stop 2: Overstuffed cow. An emotional family reunion preceded an even more emotional departure, and with that we headed off to the coast.
